As part of the «Cultivating Futures for Migrants» programme, IASIS NGO carried out activities in Samos from 25 to 27 June, in collaboration with the Accommodation Center for Unaccompanied Minors (ACUM) and under the guidance of the project’s professionals, offering unaccompanied minors the opportunity to take part in interactive games, athletic and artistic activities, as well as recreational activities. Through the power of sport, art, and creative play, the children experienced the value of inclusion, cooperation, and mutual respect.
As part of the artistic activities, participants used natural stones from the beach to create portraits, expressing their emotions through art in a safe and symbolic way. Particular emphasis was also placed on participants’ cultural identity, through celebrations linked to their countries of origin. On the occasion of Somalia’s Independence Day, participants created their country’s flag, writing wishes for the future, and decorated one another with henna, a custom that in their culture signifies honour. This activity offered a meaningful opportunity to connect with their homeland, and to promote diversity and cultural awareness.
In parallel, sports activities were held in open spaces and at the sea, giving children the opportunity for physical release and group play within a safe and supportive setting. These activities contributed to the participants’ physical exercise and well-being, to emotional release and regulation, as well as to the development of cooperation, communication, and healthy competition skills.
IASIS NGO has as its goal the development and implementation of activities that strengthen inclusion, psychological resilience, and the creation of strong bonds between people, contributing meaningfully to the smooth social integration of unaccompanied minors.
